Virtualisation Management

The management of virtualised environments is much more complex than that of their physical counterparts. By their very nature, Virtual Hosts and the VM's [often numerous] resident upon them require differing management techniques.

It is very important that a management strategy take account of the impact that VM's can have, not only on their host itself, but upon other VM's within that host. It is also critical to have the ability to be proactive in the management of virtualisation environments to ensure that any potential issue is identified and rectified as quickly as possible – automatically whenever possible.

It is also worth considering that there are often interactions between virtual machines and legacy physical servers; consequently the management strategy should take account of the possibility that a physical server failure could have a significant impact upon a large number of virtual machines or appliances.
